2nd FutureMeds Poland Annual Team Building Retreat

Updated: Jan 24, 2023

FutureMeds Poland brought the country’s Dedicated Research Site teams together at Hotel Villa Verde Congress & Spa in Zawiercie between 13-15 October for the 2nd FutureMeds Poland Annual Team Building Retreat to align on shared goals, prevent the organic development of a siloed work culture and improve teamwork & communication.

Post-pandemic, and generally, it is easy for any company’s teams can fall into silos when they focus exclusively on their goals, key performance indicators, and deliverables and lose sight of the wider context and company culture. At FutureMeds, we are no different; our Dedicated Research Site teams strive to deliver at the highest standards, which can lead to work habits that, in the long run, can damage transparency, delay learning and weaken organisational excellence.

Dr Piotr Rozpondek, Managing Director of FutureMeds Poland, a strong teamwork advocate, was keen to bring the teams together because he recognises that effective teamwork is essential in healthcare for improving the safety, efficiency and quality of treatments and, in our case, the experience of FutureMeds patients.

“Although effective teams clearly understand each other’s roles and responsibilities, we must also consider how these parts fit into the big picture and influence the patient experience. By focusing solely on one’s functional area, teams can develop tunnel vision, and as a result, communication and cross-functional teamwork can break down, resulting in organisational dysfunction. Coming together helps us align on shared goals and prevent a siloed work culture.”

- Dr Piotr Rozpondek, Managing Director of FutureMeds Poland

It has been long established that annual retreats offer a unique environment for teams to come together and interact. Incorporating activities that encourage cross-departmental, cross-site and cross-team collaboration, retreats such as the 2nd FutureMeds Poland Annual Team Building Retreat create opportunities for experienced and new employees from different teams to learn how to interact more effectively and develop role clarity and mutual understanding of how each team’s work processes fit together.

During the facilitated workshops at the FutureMeds retreat, team members were also invited to share their opinion on the functioning of the company and how they would improve working conditions. The senior leadership members at the retreat found the employee workshops, conversations and feedback beneficial for the whole company. By listening and acting on insights gained, FutureMeds aims to create a more positive work environment and encourage staff retention that can, in turn, positively impact patient experience.

“We aim to help our Dedicated Research Site teams bond and form closer relationships. This can lead to a more close-knit culture with a more productive work atmosphere, an improved ability to overcome hurdles as a team and, most importantly, a better patient experience.“

- Dr Piotr Rozpondek, Managing Director of FutureMeds Poland

FutureMeds plans to hold annual retreats to help the Dedicated Research Site teams come together, align on shared goals and prevent a siloed work culture. Integration of the unique skill set and perspective of the FutureMeds team members will help our organisation to meet our patients’ needs and advance the health of populations across Europe and, ultimately, the globe.
