FutureMeds' modernised patient-facing sites improve patient engagement, broaden accessibility, and support more robust clinical research activities.

FutureMeds successfully completed a year-long project dedicated to modernising the organisation’s patient-facing websites. This transformative initiative, deeply aligned with Patient Engagement practices and data security standards, reflects our commitment to delivering a superior experience while reinforcing our role in advancing clinical research.
Through an extensive collaboration among our functions and teams, led by Nele Brennecke, Head of Patient Engagement at FutureMeds Germany, the project team developed scalable, fit-for-purpose websites that are more accessible, secure, and engaging for patients and research participants.
"Our commitment to patient-centricity drives transformative action. By reimagining our patient-facing websites and related internal processes, we've created more than just modern digital interfaces, we've built bridges of understanding, accessibility, and hope. These improvements mean patients can now find critical information faster and navigate their clinical trial journey with greater ease."

Project Highlights
Due to FutureMeds’ network's rapid growth, in the past, each country’s online presence varied in design, functionality, and resources, often leading to inconsistent user experiences and internal processes.
This initiative aimed to unify all patient engagement websites under one professional, cohesive framework—ensuring that
Every patient, regardless of location, has access to clear and reliable information about clinical trials.
Backend processes are more aligned across countries, encouraging a faster shift from legacy systems and procedures
One of the most significant hurdles in developing a unified platform has been accommodating the diverse processes and requirements of each country. Our teams dedicated considerable time to understanding each locale’s existing practices, ensuring the final model meets the overarching goal of standardisation while remaining flexible enough to account for unique local needs.
“This multi-country project required balancing local requirements with the overall goal of unification. Thanks to the clear communication and collaboration of country managers and patient engagement teams, we developed a scalable concept that works for everyone,” added Nele Brennecke, Head of Patient Engagement at FutureMeds Germany, Project Lead
“The design and core functionalities remain consistent, while each country has enough room to tailor the site to its specific priorities and processes in place.”

Impact on FutureMeds’ Contribution to Clinical Research
In alignment with FutureMeds’ mission of transforming clinical trial efficiency and patient experience across Europe, the modernisation of patient-facing sites aims to accelerate research and patient access to new treatments by impacting 4 key areas:
Improved Patient Engagement: The German site, which the team launched in early 2024, saw 1.2 million organic search impressions and 35,000 clicks, serving as verified proof of concept
Better Integration: Enhanced integration with the FutureMeds systems now helps our patient engagement teams optimise recruitment activities increasing efficiency and effectiveness
Stronger Trial Reputation: The updated websites enhances confidence and trust in FutureMeds and is better suited to amplify the voice of patients and the work our teams do in their local communities
Faster Enrolment: By simplifying the registration processes, the team increased conversion rates. They also introduced a general registration form which patients can use to register their interest without signing up for a specific trial. This allows the sites to pre-pool more patients and nurture them via targeted communications campaigns.
Looking Ahead
As of February, all FutureMeds countries operate standardised, user-friendly websites, allowing patients to effortlessly and safely explore and register for clinical trials. As we move forward, these modernised sites will serve as the foundation for ongoing developments, helping us continually improve the impact and efficiency of our in-house patient engagement efforts.
