The symptoms of the newest COVID variants are almost indistinguishable from the cold or flu. As part of an ongoing COVID study, FutureMeds Łódź and Polish Mother's Memorial Hospital & Research Institute in Łódź encourage anyone with symptoms to get a free COVID test at FutureMeds go! mobile unit before entering the hospital grounds.
Observations of specialists across Poland show that the country is gradually approaching the peak of COVID-19 and influenza season. Although Poland has a strong 60% vaccination rate, according to the New York Times Vaccination tracker, without easily accessible tests, most individuals may not be aware of being infected and may pass the virus on to the vulnerable and hospital personnel. And as a result, the virus can spread unchecked.
Having access to free tests at the FutureMeds go! mobile point during these few weeks can be critical for the operation of Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital and the health of its staff and patients. Those who are eligible and interested can also join a study that evaluates the safety and efficacy of a new COVID-19 treatment.
“We have no idea how many patients with COVID-19 come to us because we cannot direct everyone to coronavirus tests. The availability of tests is negligible. Now, courtesy of a private company, we will be able to test for a few weeks, so in that time, it will be possible to know how many patients have positive COVID test results.” commented Michał Matyjaszczyk, Head of the Department of Family Polish Mother's Memorial Hospital & Research Institute (ICZMP).
Testing is a key for measuring the prevalence of covid-19 among the public and limiting the spread of infection among people at the highest risk from COVID-19, including the clinically vulnerable and those who provide essential healthcare to the public.
“We believe free testing is essential to keep the virus in check. Therefore, we are proud that as part of a trial, FutureMeds Łódź can offer free COVID tests to adults and children during the peak COVID season. Our FutureMeds go! mobile unit is open to the public at Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital from Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm”
