The new site will extend the FutureMeds network into Bavaria, bringing clinical research closer to patients across Nuremberg and the surrounding region.

FutureMeds' new dedicated clinical research site in Nuremberg is expected to open in late 2026.

“Nuremberg is a practical next step for us. Our sites in Berlin and Frankfurt are supporting a high volume of research, while patients in Bavaria regularly contact us about studies but cannot always manage the journey. We want to change that and provide greater access to clinical research opportunities closer to home.”

Ninon Armbrust, Managing Director at FutureMeds Germany

The expansion will create another access point between Germany’s established clinical research hubs while extending FutureMeds’ existing presence beyond Berlin and Frankfurt.

Bavaria is home to more than 13 million people and has a well-established university and hospital-based research sector. However, the availability of clinical trials does not always translate into practical access for patients.

Study-specific eligibility requirements and regular visits over several months or longer may make an otherwise suitable study difficult for patients in Bavaria to join or remain in if they must travel to larger hubs such as Munich, Frankfurt, or Berlin.

The new site is intended to reduce that distance for people across the region. The Nuremberg metropolitan area is home to around 3.6 million people, including communities across Central and Upper Franconia.

The centrally located site will have transport connections to surrounding cities and rural communities. It will complement the region’s existing academic and hospital research infrastructure while providing sponsors and CROs with additional dedicated site capacity.

FutureMeds is currently in the process of selecting the site director. Further information about therapeutic capabilities will be announced through relevant channels closer to the opening in Q4.
