FutureMeds Appoints Sabin Alexe as Managing Director at FutureMeds Romania

FutureMeds has appointed seasoned clinical research leader Sabin Alexe, MSc, PhD, as Managing Director for Romania. His appointment comes as FutureMeds deepens its commitment to expanding trial access and operational excellence across Central and Eastern Europe.  


FutureMeds appoints Sabin Alexe, MSc, PhD, as Managing Director at FutureMeds Romania, effective 1 July 2025.  


Sabin brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in global clinical research and operations. His career spans pivotal roles at Parexel and Premier Research, overseeing complex, multi-country trials across all phases. He combines hands-on expertise in site management with strategic oversight, having worked on innovative studies in rare diseases, oncology, CNS, metabolic disorders, and paediatrics.

His appointment supports FutureMeds' plan of expanding capacity and trial access of across Central and Eastern Europe. As part of this effort, FutureMeds Romania is now set to open 2 dedicated research sites in Brasov and Galati, embedded in St. Constantine Hospital and Terra Clinique, between Q4 2025 and Q1 2026.

About Sabin Alexe 


Sabin Alexe, MSc, PhD, is a Clinical Operations Leader with more than two decades of experience across the pharmaceutical and clinical research industry. His career is marked by a steady trajectory through key leadership roles that bridge hands-on trial management, regional site oversight, and global strategic planning. 


Sabin most recently served as Clinical Operations Lead at Parexel Romania, where he oversaw site activation, patient recruitment, and quality oversight on complex global trials. Prior to that, he held progressive roles at Premier Research Romania, first as a Clinical Research Associate (CRA), then as a Clinical Trial Manager responsible for full lifecycle trial delivery, CRA team management, and sponsor engagement. Earlier in his career, Sabin worked as a Scientific Advisor at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he contributed to Phase IV trials and brought scientific insights to clinical development. He began his journey in the industry as a Medical Representative with Abbott and Sandoz Romania. 


Throughout his career, Sabin has led and supported Phase I–IV trials in over 20 countries across four continents, delivering studies in therapeutic areas ranging from oncology, haematology, CNS, and rare diseases to paediatrics, cardio-metabolic, dermatology, and rheumatology. He has helped advance research in high-risk and underserved populations, such as those with rare CNS disorders and juvenile diseases. 


His operational leadership is matched by a strong academic foundation. Sabin holds a PhD in Medical Science along with MSc and BSc degrees in Physical Therapy, and he served for nearly a decade as an Associate Professor at the University of Lower Danube Galati, teaching anatomy, biomechanics, physical therapy, and rehabilitation. He is multilingual, speaking English, French, and Italian, and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as obesity, psychiatry, diabetes, and rehabilitation medicine. 


Sabin is also known for his ability to lead and mentor high-performing teams. His commitment to innovation and operational rigour aligns closely with FutureMeds’ vision for transforming the trial experience across Europe.
