Growing the FutureMeds’ European footprint to 27 sites across 7 countries, the company brings its unique dedicated research site model to Romania, one of Central and Eastern Europe’s most promising clinical research markets. As part of an expansion plan to increase capacity and patient access to trials, the 2 new dedicated research sites are set to become operational in Q4 2025 – Q1 2026 with capabilities across all major Therapeutic Areas, including oncology and haematology.

FutureMeds' site footprint expansion marks another purposeful step in the company’s mission to transform trial efficiency and patient experience across Europe. By bringing the unique dedicated FutureMeds model to Romania, the clinical research organisation is increasing its ability to connect world-leading partners with even more highly experienced local research teams and their patient communities on the continent.
Why Romania?
Romania is rapidly emerging as a strategic hub for clinical research in Central and Eastern Europe. With a population of over 19 million, a well-developed healthcare system, EU-aligned regulatory processes, and a pool of highly qualified investigators, the country offers a cost-efficient, patient-rich environment ideal for clinical trial delivery.
“Our entry into the Romanian market is driven by the country’s huge potential as an emerging host of clinical trials, thanks to its solid infrastructure, highly qualified investigators and compliance with EU regulations. The country also offers cost-effective options for conducting research compared to some Western European countries.”
— Wojciech Szczepanik PhD, Executive VP of Site Operations
Most importantly, FutureMeds’ dedicated site model and trial performance, that have earned premium network status and recognition from key players such as IQVIA, Medpace and a place on Fortrea Site Advisory Board, combined with the advantages of the country can unlock new possibilities for researchers and patient populations whilst ensuring higher quality, faster recruitment, and greater reliability for our clients than what they can expect from the fragmented site landscape.
Setting Up Dedicated Research Sites Brasov and Galati
FutureMeds' first two dedicated research sites in Romania are set to open in Q4 2025 – Q1 2026, establishing new modern hubs for trials in Brasov, the 6th biggest city, and Galati, the 8th most populous city in Romania.
Embedded within the prestigious St. Constantine Hospital, FutureMeds Brasov will have access to hospital facilities, imaging centres, specialists, and patients, particularly in oncology and haematology.
"Partnering with FutureMeds allows us to further increase our contribution to medical innovation and enhance our commitment to advanced, patient-centred care by providing access to cutting-edge clinical trials directly within our hospital. This collaboration opens new treatment options for our patients, especially in fields like oncology and cardiology, while ensuring they continue to receive care from the trusted specialists they already know."
— Alin Radasanu, Phd, Chairman of the Board at Sf Constantine Hospital Brasov

Set up within Terra Clinique, a modern multi-speciality outpatient centre, FutureMeds Galati will bring together Terra Clinique’s dedication to high-quality clinical practice and FutureMeds’ extensive experience to expand care options across all major therapeutic areas for the centre’s diverse patient population.
“The joint mission of our strategic partnership with FutureMeds is clear: to make clinical trials more accessible, efficient, and impactful. By combining our strengths, we aim to improve the way clinical studies are delivered, ensuring patients benefit from new therapies faster and with greater convenience. We look forward to working hand in hand with FutureMeds to drive scientific progress, bring hope to patients, and shape the future of healthcare."
— Prof. Gabriela Ciulei, Director General Terra Clinique

Therapeutic Areas of Focus
Our new dedicated Romanian sites will support a wide range of therapeutic areas, with a key focus on
Oncology
Haematology
CNS Disorders
Metabolic Diseases
Thanks to Romania’s high concentration of oncology trials and excellent track record in Phase III studies, FutureMeds also sees this expansion as a natural extension of our focus on community-based patient engagement. It is a new patient-centric model for oncology trials, which is blending the reliability of dedicated research sites with the flexibility of decentralised elements.
Future Outlook
To strengthen FutureMeds' site offering in Romania and increase patient access to trials, FutureMeds plans to open at least one additional site in 2025, with further expansion expected for 2026–2027.
“Our long-term local vision is to build a robust, high-performing Romanian presence with talented dedicated teams who elevate the core FutureMeds model: dedicated infrastructure, growing referral network, and superior trial performance through our Progress P.A.C.T. culture pillars of people, access, collaboration and truth.”
— Wojciech Szczepanik PhD, Executive VP of Site Operations
As with any new sites or countries, FutureMeds is committed to using its multinational, diverse team’s collective knowledge, compassion and expertise to create an unrivalled level of service for partners and patients.
