FutureMeds @home case study: Effective & Flexible Support for a Flu Vaccine Study

Writer: FutureMedsFutureMeds

FutureMeds @home helps to navigate geographic and short timeframe challenges to maintain retention and protect data integrity.

Vaccine hesitancy continues to pose a challenge not only in low- and middle-income countries but also in many high-income countries such as Germany.

As vaccine take-up can vary significantly within a country, proactive sponsors and CROs are increasingly focused on solutions that can protect the recruitment and retention performance of sites.

Along with other homecare visit providers, FutureMeds @home was engaged in such an effort to aid a nationwide flu vaccination trial across Germany.

Our service, with over 12 years of experience, was contracted to support 12 research sites with flexible and rapid homecare visit delivery.

Challenge

The study presented two critical challenges for sites and their respective home visit teams:

  1. Patients needed to report flu-like symptoms within 24 hours

  2. Home Care Visits had to be completed within 5 calendar days of symptom onset

The geographic spread of patients across Germany, combined with strict timing requirements, created logistical complexity and administrative pressure on the homevisit providers.

FutureMeds @home Solution

From our database with over 13000 registered Healthcare Professionals (nurses & physicians), the FutureMeds @home study team consisting of country coordinators, project managers, visit support and equipment management assembled a team of 18 qualified and vetted professionals.

Our goal during the selection process was to remove geographic constraints and enable our team to reach patients within a short timeframe, regardless of their location.

“Thanks to our incredibly dedicated country coordinators and nurses, we managed to organize all requested visits within the allowed time window - whether it was for the next day or on a remote island in Germany, we just made it happen,” commented Aleksandra Magowska, Project Manager, FutureMeds @home

“It is truly a pleasure to work with such a committed team, providing excellent service to the sites that trust us and, most importantly - to the patients who play a crucial role in this important clinical study. Their contribution is what drives progress in medicine, and I am more than grateful to be part of it!”
